The good news is Air Force is 5-1 and 3-0 in the Mountain West Conference after beating Colorado State. However things figure to get a tad more interesting in the next few weeks. The Falcons had 3 players go down with injuries Saturday. They lost safety Brian Lindsey to a broken clavicle for the rest of the year. He was really playing well. PJ Adeji Paul will take his place. Air Force also lost defensive linemen Ryan Gardner with a groin pull and Ben Kopacka to a knee injury. Both will miss several games. The other concern is teams have moved the ball on the ground against Air Force, teams that have not run well the entire season. Colorado State and Wyoming both had success against the Falcons rush defense. And Saturday they meet the leading rusher in the conference, Ronnie Hillman from San Diego State. He was held in check somewhat by BYU Saturday-The Aztecs, by the way, had the ball for only 15 minutes in that game-WOW, yet only lost by 3.
Other thoughts-Pick Your Poison-Do you stop Tim Jefferson, or Asher Clark, or Jared Tew? Tough call for Rocky Long the Aztecs defensive coordinator. Thats his task Saturday. The former Lobo head coach has seen the option for a long time. I wonder what he will do to try and slow it down...How bout Jonathen Warzeka. 2-100 yard Kickoff returns for touchdowns in his career and he is still only a junior? They won't kick to him Saturday. The Falcons will have to be creative to make sure he gets the ball.
