After the Falcons dispatched UNLV 35-20 to finish the regular season emotions were high in the Air Force Lockeroom. 8-4 is a good season, and with a break here or there it could have been 10-2 and even 11-1. But you are what you are, and for Air Force that means bowl bound. Sounds like the Falcons will be headed to the Independence Bowl and could meet Clemson, or even Georgia Tech, which would be a great match up since the former Navy Coach Paul Johnson coaches the Ramblin Wreck. But there was some talk the Falcons could wind up back in Las Vegas to face Notre Dame. The chance is slight, but if the Fighting Irish lose to USC they would finish 6-6. The thinking is the PAC-10 who has a berth in the Vegas bowl, may not have enough teams eligible for a bowl. Notre Dame would slide in. They would love to face Air Force in this game. Again the chances are slight, but ya never know. That would be a fun game, as would an Air Force Georgia Tech match up in the Independence Bowl. So don't book tickets anywhere just yet.
